Tree removal? Roof repair? Siding replacement? Fence repair?
Make sure that new contractor you are hiring provides you with a Certificate of Insurance. Get it from their insurer, not them, and make sure it has a current date and lists you as the certificate holder. At a minimum it should show they have general liability coverage and workers compensation if they have anybody else on the job site with them. This is routine for contractors and is usually issued on short notice. If they balk at providing it or there’s a wait of more than a day to get it to you that should raise suspicion.
Call us if you have questions or would like us to refer one of our (insured, of course!) contractor customers.
