A vital pipeline that supplies the Northeast with 45% of the fuel consumed on the East Coast was shut down Friday due to a cyber-attack.

The ransomware attack is not resolved and the Texas to New Jersey pipeline is still completely shut down.   It is not uncommon; companies, schools, hospitals and just about every organization face regular attacks and cyber insurance is a rapidly growing industry.  If your organization hasn’t addressed its cyber insurance needs contact us now.

Colonial Pipeline, the pipeline operator, has not disclosed whether they paid the ransom demand and state that they hope to have the pipeline operating by the end of this week.  That will likely result in supply disruptions.  Both sound pretty expensive.  No information was available on whether they have insurance or with what insurer. An online organization called DarkSide has claimed they are associated with the attack.

This may cost you a lot.

You’ll never see it coming.
