June 1 marks the start of the Atlantic hurricane season. No worries, yet, it doesn’t peak until mid-September and early- and mid-season storms are more likely to drift out to sea than to hit the Northeast. Later in the season is when season patterns allow for a major storm to go straight north or even a little west and hit New England. Superstorm Sandy took a big turn to the west and arrived on Oct. 29th. Look at the graphic! That’s Sandy and that’s not a typical hurricane track; they usually keep drifting east, especially the farther north they get..
Predictions are high for this year, but seasonal predictions are notoriously unreliable. Last year was predicted to be a busy year and was notably mild. The year before was a record-setter. Hope is not a plan; preparation is. Review your property insurance with us.
