Traffic cameras are coming soon to Stratford. They were approved last month and should be operational soon at 5 locations in town, 3 of them near schools.
Stratford Police Chief Joseph McNeil said a study conducted over five days recorded about an astounding 8,000 violations near Nichols Elementary, and another 6,000 near Franklin Elementary. “We definitely have a problem and we have to address it,” McNeil said. “The amount of (violations) in the school zones was really shocking to me, certainly Nichols Avenue. That really threw me. I didn’t expect to see that many violations.” https://www.stratfordctpd.com/Docs/ATESDJustificationReport2-20-25_Rev1.pdf
Cameras on school buses are also being installed and are on 4 buses already with more coming that activate when children are loading and unloading. https://www.stratfordctpd.com/Docs/SPD_SchoolBusCameras.pdf
These systems will be able to issue violations. And, yes, they would affect auto insurance pricing.
